Interests / Services

This is a list of interest categories and the interests within each category. Click on an interest to learn more about that item. If you are logged in, you will also see the members who have declared that interest, with a link to their member directory entry. Click the info link icon   to view additional information about the interest group.

Transport - rides

Pick up the member at residence. (This may require finding the residence. Report any physical, map, or GPS problems, so we can improve the description, if needed.) Deliver the member to the desired destination. Arrange for pickup time to return home.

In-Home Services

Services that require the volunteer at or in the member residence.

Stay with the member while normal caregivers leave for periods up to a couple of hours.

Simple yard and garden tasks. Occasional cleanup, such as raking, mowing (if member is temporarily unable), etc. Avoid regular yard maintenance, such as mowing.

Minor building repairs, such as faucet, change light bulbs. Move furniture. Clean storage areas. If you give us a general idea of what you want, we will send a volunteer to either do the work or assess what is required and write up your needs. We will then look for a volunteer who can do the work.

Care for member pets: feeding, water, exercise, companionship in the member home. This is generally short-term, and often involves either feeding a pet or walking a dog. The volunteer may walk the dog and the member together.

Read to member. Especially helpful for members with poor eyesight. Provides social contact. This may involve selecting or suggesting reading material. This may be over an extended period.

Train members to better use their computer, tablet, or telephone. Make minor configuration adjustments. Check for malware.

Remote Services

Services to members which can be accomplished without visiting the member home.

This is simply calling one (or more) members on a regular (daily, weekly, etc) basis. The idea is to give the member more human contact and to make sure that member does not need anything that we can provide or arrange.

Office and Organization

Work for TENT (not directly for the members) to help our organization run smoothly
